Submission Guidelines

2017 Playwrights/Playreadings deadline for submission is January 21, 2017

    1.    Limit – no more than two submissions per playwright

      2.    Submissions must be typed, one side of the page only, easy to read, with at least one inch margins and free of any stray markings.

      3.  Submissions must have two title pages: One with the title of the play only and one with the title of the play, playwright’s name, address, phone number, email address and an approximate running time for the play.

     4.  Include a brief synopsis of the plot, setting and a list of the characters before the first page of dialogue.

     5.  All pages must be numbered, starting with the first page of dialogue as page one.

     6.  If you are submitting your script in hard copy, please include four copies.

     7.  If mailed, submissions should be unbound and in a folder.

     8. If you wish your submission returned, please include a SASE with sufficient postage.

All submissions which meet the guidelines are given blind readings by two selection committees. Scripts are rated by established criteria. The plays with the highest scores move on to a final committee who read the plays aloud as a group. All final plays are discussed and then the decision on which plays will be selected for staged readings is made.  At no time prior to the final selection does any committee member know the identity of the playwright.

Plays can be submitted online at or sent by mail to Geneva Theatre Guild, PO Box 424, Geneva, NY 14456
